Documents MOORE, Roscoe- A wonderful letter written from Montana in 1938, when he was 17, to his Aunt and Uncle, Alonzo William Weller (1888-1984) and Sylvia Mildred Moore Weller (1891-1976) in Dolliver, Emmet, IA, USA. Touches on the start of air mail service to his Winnett, MT home town.
Roscoe's father, Otis Irwin MOORE (1886-1966), was sheriff in Petroleum County, MT. He started the letter but had to leave to arrest someone. Roscoe finished the letter for his dad. A great read. Notice that his letter is dated 18 May 1938 and the rubber stamp on the envelope shows the first air mail flight from there was to be 19 May 1938, the following day. Notice his reference of wanting to get the letter done so it could be flown out with the first air mail the next day.
